Junior News Writer/Editor

+Position: Entry Level Junior News Writer/Editor, Investing News Network
+Location: Vancouver, BC
+Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
+Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Additional hours as required.

The Investing News Network is comprised from a group of ambitious, motivated and hard working individuals building a reputable and trusted brand for investors. We have created a fun, fast paced, honest and supportive working environment committed to delivering value to our readers and our clients.

As news writer at INN, you'll be responsible for producing daily news stories on a variety of commodity-focused topics. The news writer will also conduct research, interviews, assist with copy editing and help the senior editors with production of eBooks. The news writer role will also from time to time be responsible for researching and creating educational content for the network websites.

You also understand deadlines and have clear, concise writing. You write from a reader's perspective and understand your work's purpose and the various contexts in which it is read.

The successful candidate will also be expected to upload and monitor their stories, as well as promote them through social channels and engage with the story's audience.

This is an entry level position.

Responsibilities:

+Contribute to INN by writing articles and conducting interviews for online publication
+Share accountability for presenting end product consistent with the highest professional journalistic standards
+Curate client press releases
+Proof and edit all content to ensure consistency of message and text across all platforms
+Choose material from feed sources, making it as relevant as possible for our audience
+Duties may include editing, training, prompting, research, story producing & rewrites
+Attend industry functions and appear on video interviews with thought leaders as required
+Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
+Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a writer
+Bachelor's degree in English or Journalism
+Knowledge of resource markets, mining, and investing an asset
+Proven ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while maintaining focus and composure
+Excellent communication skills -- both oral and written
+Ability to work in a team, and be self motivated
+Good computer skills; familiarity with Wordpress an asset
+Ability to work in standard office environment that may be hectic and stressful due to editorial and time constraints

Competencies:

+Solid, innovative story-telling skills; able to generate original ideas and creative story treatments
+Effective interpersonal skills
+Savvy with social media
